Olena UUTAi
Olena UUTAi is an expert performer on the xomus (or “khomus”), the most ancient musical instrument – a traditional jaw harp. Coming from Yakutsk, Russia and having passed through a classical musical education while young, UUTAi started to attend xomus lessons.
The Jew’s harp, also known as jaw harp, mouth harp, Ozark harp, trump, or juice harp, consists of a flexible metal or bamboo tongue or reed attached to a frame. Over time her skill would grow to the point where her on-stage flair can be described as something absolutely fantastic. The sounds from this tiny instrument will summon ancient imagery in ones mind accompanied by voices of nature.
