KUCHING 13th June 2022 – A shuttle service for this year’s Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) from Kuching to its venue at Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) is available to the public at designated check points from 17th to 19th June 2022.

The bus shuttle service from Kuching to Damai Central car park area near SCV will run between 9.00am to 8.00pm from three pick-up points at The Hills Shopping Mall, Riverside Majestic Hotel Astana Wing and Plaza Merdeka. For those returning to the city from SCV, the trip from Damai Central car park starts from 9.30am until 12.30am the next day.

Tickets for the shuttle bus service are priced at RM40 for a return trip for adults and RM20 for children aged between 7 to 12 years-old. The public can purchase the shuttle bus tickets at the three pick-up points.

For RWMF ticket holders, a limited free return trips daily is up for grabs and the offer is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

STB is also collaborating with Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd to ferry RWMF ticket holders from Riverside Majestic bus stop to SCV via their hydrogen buses.  The public can check on the latest information about the Sarawak Metro bus schedule to the festival from RWMF’s official website rwmf.net and STB’s social media platforms.

For festival-goers whom are driving up to the festival, an on-loop van shuttle service to the RWMF 2022 from the Santubong Resort T-Junction checkpoint to SCV is also available, priced at RM7 one-way for adults and RM4 one-way for children aged between 7 to 12 years old.

The van trip from Santubong Resort to SCV is from 10.00am to 10.00pm, while the trip from SCV to Santubong Resort is between 10.00am to 12.30am.

Festival goers are encouraged to plan their journey, particularly during the peak hours between 4.00pm to 6.00pm which will be before the night concerts.

Rainforest World Music Festival 2022

The Rainforest World Music Festival, themed “Legendary Rainforest Celebration,” will be held from 17th to 19th June 2022, taking on a hybrid format this year with the physical concert at Sarawak Cultural Village while viewers can also livestream it from their homes via an online viewing platform. RWMF will feature a host of international performers from Canada, India, USA, Finland, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, Australia, Madagascar, Ukraine, China, Bhutan and Seoul, among others while showcasing a string of Malaysia’s own talents such as Alena Murang, At Adau from Sarawak, Bamboo Woods from Sabah, Bourbon Lassi from Kuala Lumpur and many more.

The festival is back with its familiar format of daytime workshops and evening concerts with an array of activities planned throughout the festival.  Festival-goers can enjoy the arts and craft fair featuring the best of Borneo handicrafts among others, or savour a diverse choice of traditional delicacies from the food bazaar.

The daytime musical workshops will bring together diverse musicians from many disciplines, drawing together these talents under unifying themes to showcase, jam and create unique music in the setting of the Sarawak Cultural Village. Among the activities to look out for are the Sape Gathering’ that will bring together anyone who can strum a sape in Sarawak and a kiddie’s workshop to bring on the next generation where they can play with instruments, create art and enjoy the festival ground to their hearts’ contents.

Festival-goers can choose from the different ticket categories at pre-sale prices – Adult 1-Day Pass (RM165), Adult 3-Day Pass (RM405), Child 1-Day Pass (RM85), Child 3-Day Pass (RM195) and 1-Day Family Package Pass- 2 Adult and 2 Children (RM440).  The virtual tickets are priced at RM25 per one-hour block.

 

Borneo Jazz 2022

 Meanwhile, themed “Jazz in The Jungle”, the 17th edition of Borneo Jazz will be held from 24 to 26 June 2022 in Coco Cabana, Miri in a hybrid format for the first time to reach out to the greater jazz-loving community worldwide. Performers from a host of countries namely Singapore, Japan, France, Switzerland, USA, and Hungary, not to mention the best names in Malaysian jazz will be showcasing their talent in Jazz music. For the public category, 1-Day Pass is priced at RM128 per ticket, 2-Day Pass is RM228 per ticket and 3-Day Pass is RM338 per ticket. As for students and senior citizens, 1-Day Pass is priced at RM88 per ticket, 2-Day Pass is RM128 per ticket and 3-Day Pass is RM188 per ticket. For virtual viewing, tickets are priced at RM25 per one-hour block.

 

ecoGreenPlanet Programme

RWMF & BJ 2022 continues to advance Sarawak Tourism Board’s agenda on Responsible Tourism through its ecoGreenPlanet programme.  Through this greening initiative, members of the public can contribute to the programme where RM10 for each RM25 virtual RWMF or BJ ticket sold will be donated towards the tree-planting activities that will be held after the festivals.
