Bourbon Lassi

An adaptation of the world-famous AkashA band, Bourbon Lassi is a vibrant 5-piece world music band, featuring some of the biggest and brightest names in the Malaysian music circle, led by premier muso Jamie Wilson.

Bourbon Lassi made its debut at the Rainforest World Music Festival in Sarawak, Malaysia in June 2022, and has been a much sought-after band ever since, performing at various venues in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi in its short life span.

Bourbon Lassi features Jamie Wilson as composer and on vocals and guitar, Kumar Karthigesu on the sitar, Gideon Yogan on the bass, John Thomas on the drums and Vick Ramakrishnan on the tabla and voice percussions. The selection of melodies incorporate elements of blues, rock, latin, Indian, contemporary music and more, and switches seamlessly between original compositions and cover tunes.

This eclectic blend of genres and instruments gives a rich aromatic flavour to Bourbon Lassi’s music, making it easily likeable and enjoyable by broad swathes of audiences. Each band member of Bourbon Lassi contributes a unique ingredient in the makeup of its music, the combination of which produces some explosive live music, complete with the light-hearted humour of the band.
