Response to Sarawak Tourism Board’s call for vendors to participate at the Food and Village Mart at the upcoming Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2011 has been overwhelming with all spaces at the Premium Food and Village Mart area fully booked as at the closing date on February 25.

A total of 68 stalls will be set up at the Food and Village Mart at the 14th Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) which will be held at the Sarawak Cultural Village this coming July 8 to 10. However, the organizers of the festival advise that a limited number of vacant lots are still available at the Orang Ulu lawn area. This is another strategic area and favourite spot for festival goers to hang out and relax, having their food and drinks while watching the live performance on huge screens located there. This is the last chance for interested vendors to take up the offer which is on until March 18.

For those who have earlier confirmed participation at the Mart, please note that payment in full has to be made latest by April 1. As these lots are in great demand, vendors who fail to pay up by then will have their spaces allocated to those on the waiting list.

The Food Mart is opened to all vendors selling a variety of food and beverages eg Western cuisine, Thai dishes or Japanese food like sushi and sashimi as well as local food such as Sarawak Laksa, Kolo Mee, Manok Pansoh, Midin (wild fern) or chicken barbeque to name a few.

The Village Mart, on the other hand is for those selling handicrafts, textiles, jewellery and other products and services. At the Village Mart, we are also hoping to have booths featuring artists who will be able to demonstrate arts like artificial henna tattoo, airbrush tattoo, local fabric arts and paintings where the festival goers can participate or have a tattoo done as a memorabilia of the festival.

So hurry, take up this last chance to be a part of the world renowned Rainforest World Music Festival and obtain the application form at the Sarawak Tourism Board office, 5th Floor, Bangunan Yayasan Sarawak. Requests can also be made via email to [email protected].

This 14th year edition of the festival is expected to draw a crowd of at least 21,000 festival goers during the three days. The event which has put Sarawak on the world map will once again be held at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Santubong.

Sarawak Tourism Board has already confirmed 21 bands performing at the RWMF this year. All of the 21 bands who come from across the globe will be making their appearance on the RWMF 2011 stage and taking part in the afternoon workshops. These workshops have always been a big hit with festival goers who are keen to learn more about the instruments.

Come! Be a part of this international music festival which has made it into the top 25 world music festivals in the world!.
