In 1511, the Portuguese landed in Malacca, on the western edge of Peninsular Malaysia.
Today, their ancestors continue with their music, dances and culture.
Led by Gerard de Costa, who started dancing with the Tropa de Malacca when he was 11 years old, this group remains passionate preserving the dances from Portugal as well as the branyo, a product of the marriage between Portuguese and Malaysian art and music.
