Our first ever Rainforest Waterfront Fest – Talent Search Winner

Creating a record of sort, The ‘Rhythm of Borneo’ won the Talent Search contest, posing with their spoils, together with the CEO of Sarawak Tourism Board, Dato Rashid Khan. The winner will perform @Dewan Lagenda, Sarawak Cultural Village during the festival on Friday 8th July from 6.00-6.30pm.

14 years! What a history! Created in July 1998 the RWMF is today much more than one simple festival! It now naturally found its place in the heart of Borneo Island, and leaves us imagining all the possible ways to ensure people enjoy the world of music. The Festival is well established and proposes a dynamic program, open to the magic atmosphere of the world music.

In conjunction with the RWMF 2011, a TALENT SEARCH has been initiated (a search for local talents) orchestrated by Sara Urusharta Pte Ltd and STB Leisure and Properties Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Sarawak Tourism Board.

It is a music contest, for artists from Sarawak and Sabah. The winner will be invited to play in RWMF 2011, side by side with internationals bands. By discovering and developing new artists, the festival can open doors for artists to connect with the public, managers, radio stations etc, thus creating a platform for local artists and as a result for the Sarawak culture.

More than just a simple project, “RWM Waterfront Fest – 2011” is specially a cultural project in its constant desire to find new possibilities of diffusion for as many people as possible, to form new meetings, to reinvent new musical actions and to establish regional artistic networks.
